The Fish Express is a hidden gem located in Lihue, Hawaii, renowned for its exceptional poke bowls and fresh seafood. Customers rave about the variety and quality of options available. David Nagel-Nunez highlights the standout scallop poke as "flavorful and delicious," while Larry emphasizes the freshness reminiscent of SoCal poke spots, with a unique deli-style service where you customize your bowl by weight. The establishment offers a range of Chinese and Hawaiian plates, with dishes like the Ginger Miso Ahi and Pork laulau, both priced affordably. Anna Akhmetshina appreciates the freshness despite the humble ambiance, noting that it's ideal for take-out given the limited seating. Ed Bonser and Allen L commend the fried fish lunch plates and their poke selections, with the latter enjoying a well-seasoned bowl that showcases a perfect balance of flavors. With friendly staff and a self-serve topping bar, The Fish Express is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that delights poke lovers and seafood enthusiasts alike. This bustling eatery is undoubtedly worth the visit, especially for those seeking fresh flavors en route to the beach.

Great poke shop! There were a good variety of options and they were very delicious. My favorite was the scallop poke. It was so flavorful and delicious. The staff were friendly as well. Note, it can get pretty busy inside, and the parking lot is a little small if it's busy. But it's totally worth it, and it was one of my favorite poke on the island.

Very tasty and original poke. The place itself doesn't inspire much confidence, but the food is very fresh. You choose what will be in your poke, in addition to the seafood, you put sides in it on yourself, the price goes for the weight. I highly recommend it. There is good parking, but there is nowhere to eat inside, so only take-out.

We eat a lot of Poke Bowls in SoCal, the food here was a fresh as it gets. Unlike most Poke shops stateside, all of the fish is behind a deli counter and you purchase the scoops of what you want which is based on a per/lb basis (like a deli). Fish Express has a great selection and you can self serve your toppings. Purchased our food and drove a quick 5 minutes to the beach where we enjoyed our poke bowl.

We loved the fried fish lunch plates. We got the Ahi furikake and Mahi mac nut plates. Poke looked fresh, a nice side bar is available to doctor up your poke bowl. Nice people running the joint.

The poke was fresh and flavorful, with a wide variety of selections and additional sides to choose from. I ordered one bowl with a green salad base and three scoops: Spicy Salmon, Sliced Tako, and Shoyu Ahi. Everything was well-seasoned and delicious. I also tried the fried tako, which was impressively fresh and perfectly crispy. Definitely a solid spot for poke lovers

Straight off the plane, had to stop and get my poke fix. I was hoping they’d have a good selection because it was late in the day and the fresh poke is usually gone. They did. Highly recommend the spicy shrimp, cali poke, and limu poke on sushi rice. You can add toppings, but I didn’t. My brother didn’t tell me til after we paid, but they have a great selection of toppings if you want to add to your bowl. I’m good with fresh poke and rice. I wasn’t impressed with the Tako, I think the black pepper kind of threw off the taste, but that’s a personal opinion. Still ate it all so it’s all good, just probably won’t get it next time. The staff is nice too so that’s always a plus coming to a small shop!

This was our first stop after flying in on Sunday, and we arrived just 15 minutes before closing. They had run out of poke, but without hesitation, they offered to make some for us - even as they were starting to close up. They also recommended we take it to Lydgate Park to enjoy, and I’m so glad we did. Amazing service and an unforgettable experience!

There a good choice of food options. The team members are very friendly. The place is very clean. We ordered one Poke Bowl with Ahi Spicy Poke w/Crab, Ahi Spicy Poke, and Ahi Shoyu Poke. We also ordered another Poke Bowl with Ahi Spicy Poke w/Crab, Salmon Onion Poke, and Kimchee Shrimp. They are very delicious.
